Leadership programme

“Effective conversations: From energy guzzlers to energy boosters”

The Netherlands Food and Consumer Safety Authority (NVWA) asked us to develop and give a training course on the theme of effective conversations as part of its programme on showing leadership and receiving leadership. This workshop, consisting of three modules, focused on managers within the NVWA.

Safety programme

“Putting safety first starts with MT ownership”

How do you create a joint security policy in an organisation made up of merged companies and thus merged cultures? In 2020, the Van Nieuwpoort Group decided to explore how safety could become more firmly embedded in their corporate culture. Based on the company’s ambition to climb a rung higher on the safety ladder, the focus was on attitudes and behaviour. A steering committee took the lead in this task and asked De Federatie to support them in that. Once the committee had been convinced that developing the whole workforce necessarily depends on the MT’s assuming ownership of the safety culture, we started together from the beginning.

“Serious Game about Safety”

Safety is an important issue for GMB and for several years now, we have been privileged to support them in their annual “safety days”. As an organisation, GMB specialises in water safety, water quality, bioenergy, industrial construction and infrastructure. While developing a surprising new programme is a fun challenge each year, the circumstances during the pandemic led us to give the programme a complete makeover. We created an extra challenge for skilled workers (the majority of GMB’s workforce), who mainly work outside in the field. Online! We went for it!

10 years of training and coaching

“Safety as a connecting value for everyone in the organisation”

One of our partners, for whom we are very grateful, is Boskalis. Since they developed their own safety programme, known as NINA (“No injuries, no accidents”), in 2010, we have been allowed on board – literally and figuratively – to make work of the company’s safety ambitions. Ten of our trainers have travelled all over the world to make safety a topic of discussion at all levels of the organisation, but also to connect people. What were the main challenges over those years and how did we contribute to the NINA safety programme?

Coaching

“Do you want to win or stay afraid of losing again?”

How do you translate a 15-year skating career into a compact and engaging 25-minute story? Faced with this completely new challenge for him, Jan came to Frans. It was not only Frans’ experience as a director, but also their shared passion for sports and personal development that ensured a smooth cooperation between them.

“Prize-winning plan for
Nature Room at Sloterplas leads to tensions over
zoning plan”

Trainees at the Municipality of Amsterdam learn a variety of different communication skills during their traineeship. Communicating effectively, giving feedback, reflecting... But what if you’ve finished your traineeship and you suddenly find yourself in a tense conflict of interest between an alderman, the chairman of lobby group, and a disgruntled entrepreneur? How do you deal with that? In an online game, we simulated the situation together with Green Oranges and our own actors, so that the trainees could practise beforehand. The game is on(line)!
